What is the My Free Review Experience?
I have used PortablApps Menu on a regular but infrequent basis over the past year or more. It is part of my overall set of portable programs and I have it set up in two separate folders to run different sets of applications. The reason that I use this infrequently is that I have a preference to use two alternative utilities for starting most of my programs. I will review these in the next few weeks and tell you why I like them. That sad I think it is a very good utility as part of a small set of portable applications and would recommend it to anyone who particularly wants a single download solution to a set of portable applications for use on their USB flash drive or portable drive.
Simple - Stable - Does the job
What Could Make it be Better?
- Resizeable window
- Two columns for applications (with wider window)
- Shortcuts to My Documents and multimedia folders on host PC
- Option to set alternative system tray icon
- Option to exclude applications from start list (e.g. uninstallers in folder)

Its a good collection of portable software and everything but personally dont like their launcher so using Pstart - http://pegtop.net/start/ - instead.
It is a lot easier to customize and have more options then the supplied menu software. Well recommended along with the Portableapps offered portable software.

Hi Christoffer Karlsson,
Thanks for taking the time to post your comment.
I also think Pstart is a more verstatile and accomplished solution. But I do use Portable Apps menu as a quick way of getting an application into a start menu system so I don’t forget about it. As you only have to put the new portable application folder into the “More Applications” folder under the Portable Apps main folder it is very quick and easy.
As this blog is in its early stages I haven’t had time to review some of the other methods I use for launching applications. I will do so in the future.
Regards
